Damiani Editions proposes several editions of the book Richard Corman on Madonna!
Richard Corman said...
"Early in May of 1983, I got a call from my mother, Cis Corman. She was casting Scorcese’s new film, The Last Temptation of Christ and said she’d just auditioned a woman I really had to photograph. “She’s an original! I’ve never met anyone like her!”. I was just beginning my career, and I was always looking for charismatic subjects, so I agreed. The woman was Madonna, and the part she’d auditioned for was the Virgin Mary."

Madonna NYC 83/Damiani Editore
24 x 31,5 cm/96 pages
Damiani Editore offers to buy three books on Madonna to extend your Madonna's personal collection...
That reveal three volumes, from three different point of view, the identity of The Most Celebrated personality of These last decades.
# Tom Munro by Tom Munro, introduction by Madonna - One of today's foremost fashion and celebrity photographers, Tom Munro has been making defining images since the mid-1990s. Munro achieves his results by encouraging his subjects to reinterpret their personalities for his lens, reveling in seductive roleplay or darkly-lit melodrama.
# Little Red Riding Hood by Maripol - Maripol’s work as an art director, designer, and film producer has influenced popular movements in music, fashion and art since the early 1980s. For the first time, she is opening her scrapbooks of drawings, design, photography and writing to create a book that captures her personality as an artist. Madonna, Keith Haring and Basquiat are a few of the significant people of our times that she has influenced, filmed, and photographed.
# Madonna NYC 83 by Richard Corman - Madonna NYC 83 celebrates a moment in early 1980s New York that has been increasingly reappraised in recent years for its fecund interactions and overlaps between the worlds of fashion, art and music. Coming in the wake of punk and new wave, this economically fragile period gave rise to a vital, edgy restlessness in the city, spawning adventurous personal styles and music that merged rap, funk, punk and pop.
Madonna NYC 83 celebrates a moment in early 1980s New York that has been increasingly reappraised in recent years for its fe- cund interactions and overlaps between the worlds of fashion, art and music. Coming in the wake of punk and new wave, this economically fragile period gave rise to a vital, edgy restless- ness in the city, spawning adventurous personal styles and mu- sic that merged rap, funk, punk and pop. Madonna represented this sensibility like no-one else. As this book makes amply clear, from the start she was determined to define a look for herself, and to carve out a space in the public imagination.
After her countless subsequent incarnations over the past three decades, it is extraordinary to revisit these early years. Richard Corman met Madonna by chance in 1983 and created a bountiful col- lection of images that constitute a multifaceted portrait of the young Madonna and a New York that remains timelessly inspiring and significant. Madonna NYC 83 is not only an hom- age to Madonna and the early 80s, but also a collage of exu- berance, humor, fashion, sexiness and performance. The book is designed by Yolanda Cuomo Design in New York.
An exhibition for the book's release is planned at Milk Studio in New-York City !
