Madonna won for Favorite Music Icon at this year People’s Choice Awards, beating out Prince, Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler and Stevie Wonder. She was also nominated for Favorite Female Artist, but Taylor won.
As our friend Matthew at Boy Culture reminds us, this is only her second time ever being nominated in that category; she won 30 years ago (can you believe it?!) in 1986, back when it was called Favorite Female Musical Performer and she was in the midst of filming Shanghai Surprise.
Madonna was nominated for 4 Minutes. No nominees for masterpieces like Like a Prayer or Vogue, nor for Evita or Ray of light, American Life or Confessions. Anyway…
Waterford, a heritage brand synonymous with celebration, is the maker of the 2016 People’s Choice Awards. For seven years, Waterford artisans in Ireland have designed and hand-sculpted these bespoke, sparkling crystal trophies that will have a new home with each talented winner. This year, Waterford also designed custom trophies for the “Favorite Humanitarian” and “Favorite Music Icon” categories. Ms. DeGeneres’s award will feature a pop of Crimson color on the crystal, and Madonna the Favorite Music Icon, will receive a custom award with a touch of a Sapphire Blue in the center of the flame.
